Simon Jones

Simon Jones is a trombone player and jazz educator based in the Central Florida area. In spring 2023, he completed his Bachelors in Music Education from the University of North Florida. During his time at UNF, Simon has played in the renowned Jazz Ensemble One in addition to four years of tutelage with the great jazz trombonist, Dave Steinmeyer. He is now continuing his education, pursuing a Masters in Jazz Studies at the University of Central Florida. At UCF, he is also a graduate teaching assistant in the music school. In his spare time, Simon manages his own private studio and is a freelance musician, performing with local big bands, horn lines, and combos in the Central Florida Area.

Simon's main focus is jazz education in his community, taking great inspiration from the educators of Lincoln Center and various reputable jazz programs throughout the country. Jones focuses on simplifying the music and letting students learn with their ears, with the goal being: to allow the future generation of students to find their own voice in music while also respecting the past 100 years of jazz tradition.
